The Naiad 18 was built for Gordon Fisher, the owner and builder of Nonsuch Sailboats, who wanted a quality daysailer for his retirement. She is an easy to sail, stable and fast daysailer that has a ballasted centerboard, is self bailing and unsinkable. She was designed by Mark Ellis who did the Nonsuch series of boats. She can be classified as a modern Cat Wherry, similar in appearance to a Whitehall Skiff. She has a stand alone carbon fiber mast and wishbone rig with a reefable mainsail. She may also be rowed with a pair of 9 1/2' oars or operated with the included 4 hp 4 stroke Yamaha outboard. Includes custom winter cover and storage trailer. She is a rarely available, high quality daysailer or beach cruiser in excellent condition.
Hull & Deck Heavily constructed in fiberglass with foam under the seats to make her unsinkable. She is self bailing thru scuppers at the centerboard and transom. Large lockable storage compartment just aft of the mast. The centerboard trunk top is padded and serves as a rowing seat. Traditional brass orlocks are fitted and she may be rowed (although slowly). The storage trailer is not registered and does not have any papers. The mast is stored above the boat using custom supports that attach to the trailer and rudder pintles. There is a full winter cover that uses the mast as a ridge pole. Mechanical She has a 4 hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard in good condition. Hours are unknown but motor appears to have little use and operates well. There is a sturdy stainless steel retrieveable motor bracket mounted on the transom. Sails and Rigging Stand alone carbon fiber tapered mast with wishbone boom. The mast inserts into a round receptacle in the hull and is captured and supported by the thwart. It may be stepped by 1 person. Mainsail is 144 sq ft with window and in excellent condition.
