Boat Description

"Mango" is in excellent condition and is ready to cruise offshore tomorrow. She had very little use by the original owner for 8 years and the current owner is selling her after a successful 2 year cruise. She needs nothing. Please read on and check the full specifications for more photos and details.

She is a powerful and serious offshore cruiser with a low profile center cockpit. She was designed by Ed Dubois and built in the UK by Westerly Yachts to US specifications. The many upgrades include lead Scheel keel, all US Electrical systems and appliances including: US generator, US washer/dryer, US refrigeration and much more.

These boats are ruggedly built using the finest materials. The interior craftsmanship is flawless and Mango shows very nicely. She was little used and it shows in the interior and especially in the mechanicals.

Most of the Westerly 49s are a 3 cabin arrangement, the third cabin having a small guest berth but the owners wanted a larger guest cabin forward. The latter part of the third cabin is now a laundry room with full size washer/dryer and a work bench. Mango is a striking yacht very comparable to the Hylas 46 or 49 and at a lower price than both.

Accommodations below
"Mango" was purpose designed to have 2 large staterooms sleeping 4, rather than the more common 3 stateroom models. The third cabin was replaced by a utility room housing the washer, dryer, workbench and gym equipment. She is bright and airy below with excellent ventillation and 6' 5" headroom. Beautifully finished in teak with teak and holly soles, corrian counters and quality furnishings throughout.

WALKTHROUGH

Starting forward, there is a large guest cabin with center line queen berth with pull out drawers under. There are numerous opening lockers for storage, as well as a shelf for books. There is also a large hanging locker to starboard and a smaller one to port. Nestled on the port side is a computer desk with swing out seat, shelves and locker above and opening desk top. There is an opening hatch and two opening ports for ventilation and light, as well as two lamps for reading. This stateroom is finished in a high quality teak and is fully air-conditioned.

Going aft we come to the laundry room, to port. On some models of this boat, this was a small Captain’s berth, now it is a full sized laundry room with standup washer and dryer, lockers, opening port and small work bench.

Directly across is the guest head and shower which features a Lavac toilet, sink, vanity with mirror, locker and teak grate. There is a fold-down seat that goes over the toilet for showing. The interior is all white molded fiberglass for easy cleaning.

Next aft is the main salon to port. The salon is built around an expandable teak table that seats six on an “C” shaped settee. There are two opening lockers and a bookshelf behind, with the batteries in secured heavy duty boxes below the settee, and ample storage behind the cushions. The upholstery is tastefully done and in good condition. The interior woodwork is teak and extremely well done.

The nav station is across from the dining table, to starboard and features a large functional chart table that opens for storage. There is a place for a printer and, under the chart table, a shelf for a computer. Display areas for electronics and radios are forward and to the right. Outboard, to starboard, are two custom Newmar electrical panels with battery switches below. Aft of the nav area is an entertainment center with TV, DVD and stereo. Below that is a lovely cabinet for glasses and bar supplies.

The owner’s stateroom is aft with a large queen bed accessible from both sides and with drawers underneath. Other features include 10 opening lockers for storage, on the starboard side, and nine to port. Each side has a large hanging locker and there is a verticle locker for small items. There are Bose speakers for music, lights for reading and a comfortable seat on each side of the bed. On the port side and forward is the master head and shower. The main part of the head is similar to the guest head. The shower features a tinted Plexiglas stall with stainless trim and opening door. There is a handy opening port as well.
